Building Updates
Monthly Fire Alarm Testing
Our monthly fire test 🧯will be taking place on Wednesday September 13th at 10am. You will hear the fire alarm going off while they are in the building as the system will be on test.
*If you hear the fire alarm going off consistently at any time, it is imperative that you leave the building.
Maintenance Requests
All maintenance requests are now submitted through your Entrata Resident portal. If have yet to register, please email us as soon as possible. This would includes things such as your Grata lock informing you that your battery is low, your thermostat battery is low or anything else you need us to have a look at and fix/replace.
Garbage Room
The garbage room is located on the main floor by the North elevator - in the hallway of the 100 level units. Please ensure you take your garbage down to the garbage room daily. ♻️ You'll notice we have Green bins, recycling bins and garbage bins. The Green Bins are not for your garbage. If you are unfamiliar with what goes where, you can download the Guelph waste app in the App Store or Google Play.
Kitchen
Please remember that the kitchen is a shared space and the fridges and freezer in the community kitchen are shared amongst all residents. Please be respectful of the space by using the shared fridges and freezer for items that do not fit your mini fridge. Reminder, all cooking supplies including pots and pans, are to be stored in your units.
BBQs
The BBQs are for the ALMA community and we ask that you clean them after each use. The red valve behind each BBQ is used to turn the gas line on and off. Please do remember to turn the gas line off when you are done using the BBQ. If you are unsure how to work the BBQ, please feel free to pop by the office and we can show you.
Bike Room
Bike racks have now been installed in the bike room 🚲 and are accessible using your fob. The bike shelter will be built this fall.
TVs in the Common Spaces
All TVs have subscriptions to Disney, Netflix, Crave, Sportsnet and TSN. Accessing these is simple and easy - just search for the appropriate app and enjoy. If for some reason it is not working on a specific TV, email us and we will get that added.

Payment deadline for tuition and the last day to register for courses is September 15, 2023.

Only a 12min drive from ALMA, the Eden Mill's Writers' Festival is a "magical celebration of literature in a warm, welcoming, and unique setting." Listen to famous authors, attend writing workshops and taste some delicious food.
Orientation Week
Friday, September 1st to Sunday, September 10th
There are over 250 events planned for orientation week and UofG has posted all events on GryphLife - events include small close knit socials, study spot scavenger hunt to the large pep rally. Although many of these events are geared towards students in their first year, there many events for all years - you may even decide to paint the cannon! If you are in first year, don't forget to register for the Off Campus Kick Off event.

Tuesday September 5th - Dining area outside of the Kitchen
Join us for our first event of the semester - this exciting opportunity allows you to meet fellow residents, forge friendships, and unleash your creativity while decorating cookies with your newfound friends. All those who attend, get a chance to win two homecoming tickets
ICE and DICE - Sundae and Board Game Hangout
September 9th, 2pm
ALMA will provide ice cream, toppings, and board games for residents to gather and hang out in the atrium spaces. Make a sundae creation and grab a spot at one of the board game tables.
Trivia Night
Tuesday September 19th, 7pm
A test of random and fun facts, join other residents for a night of fun and a chance to win ALMA swag. Only one rule, you cannot use your CELL PHONE! After trivia, lets continue the fun and design your ALMA tote bag.
